Sharmond Smith is a Flute and Saxophonist in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.The proud son of Tesser Easter Smith and the late great David Smith a well-known Calypsonian in the Islands of the Bahamas known to all as Kasavubu.
Sharmond discovered his musical talent during his senior years at R.M Bailey High school. This is where he was introduced to the Flute and Saxophone under the direction of Mr. Lou Adams Jr. After graduating from R.M.Bailey High School. Sharmond Then enrolled in the Bahamas National Youth Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Duke Errol Strachen.
Sharmond landed his first professional job as a Flute and Saxophonist with King Eric and his Knights. He performed with them in a native and cultural show nightly at the King and Knights Club for two years. Later Sharmond joined The Ronnie Butler and Fire Band for three years. Ronnie Butler was known as known as the godfather of Bahamian music. They performed at the Gombay Bar in the Radisson nightly.
Sharmond's true passion was Jazz music. His love for jazz exploded on the jazz scene when he became a member of the Pneuma Band. In this jazz group Sharmond was able to really express himself through the style of music in which he had desired.
Sharmond Smith has produced and recorded Four albums available for purchase over the years. Homecoming (2005), Inside My Dreams (2015), Back To 1990 (2016) and The Christmas Joy (2020)
Sharmond was afforded the opportunity to travel and perform at many special events and jazz festivals local and abroad.
